A few days back, a rumor suggested that a number of Samsung devices will skip the Android 4.2.2 Update and will be updated directly Android 4.3. It looks like the rumor turned out to be correct, at least for Galaxy Note II. Australian carrier Telstra has announced that the Galaxy Note II 4G will indeed skip Android 4.2.2 and will be updated to the “newer version” of Android, which is expected to be Android 4.3. Xiaomi M1 phone with Ice Cream Sandwich

The iPhone 4S has been doing gangbusters for Apple ever since it was released a couple of months ago, but that does not mean other companies around the world are going to sit down and see Apple dominate the smartphone market. No sir, the competition’s heating up in China, with Meizu recently rolling out the Meizu MX, not to mention Meizu’s closest rival, Xiaomi, having rolled out a video that shows off the Xiaomi M1 handset being powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is still a work in progress, with the ROM being known as MIUI V4. Check a video of Ice Cream Sandwich in action after the jump.

HTC Sense 3.0 update to hit older phones

The HTC Sense user interface experience is something that is better for you to experience for yourself, than to rely on wordsmiths conjuring up adjectives while singing its praises and merits. After all, with Android being an open platform, it makes perfect sense for phone manufacturers to tweak the operating system with their own take in terms of interactivity – Samsung has their TouchWiz UI, so why not HTC with their vaunted Sense? It seems that HTC’s Sense 3.0 update is being prepared for a port over to older HTC handsets, the HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD in particular, letting you enjoy an enhanced unlock display, newer widgets, and the ability to access settings control directly from the notification bar among others.

At the moment, only unlocked HTC handsets in the UK will be on the receiving end of this update, although we would not be too far off the mark to say that HTC is working to deliver HTC Sense 3.0 to branded handsets across the rest of Europe and in the US in due time.
