Tingling Electronic Spidey Sense Shirt

“My spider sense is tingling!” I am quite sure that many of us are now too familiar with that phrase, especially when you grew up on a diet of Spiderman, ranging from comics to collectible trading cards, Marvel Clix (remember that? I blew a whole lot of money on what are essentially useless pieces of plastic today), cartoons, movies and video games. Well, if you wished that you had at least one of Spiderman’s amazing powers, and his spider sense would give you a tactical advantage in school against bullies, then it is easier to pick up this $39.99 Tingling Electronic Spidey Sense Shirt rather than find a radioactive spider to bite you.

This is made possible thanks to a clip-on sensor that comes equipped with a vibration motor which is capable of detecting motion from 5 feet away. Turning it on is simple – press and hold it for four seconds, and you are good to go. Anything that is 5 feet away will result in a very slow pulse, while as the object gets closer, the pulse’s frequency would increase, naturally. Powered by a couple of AAA batteries, we are not too sure whether it can detect an incoming punch fast enough. Still got to work on those reflexes though.

New Trent Airbender Mini now available

So, you have decided to pick up a spanking new iPad mini for yourself, and want to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that it remains as scratch free as possible, at least until the next generation iPad mini arrives, so that you can sell off your current iPad mini at the highest price possible? That is definitely a thought, but I prefer to look at gadgets this way – it is always best to maximize its purpose, and if it involves using said device without any protective case or screen protector so that it will not sully the efforts made by the device’s designers, then so be it, never mind the fact that there is the very real possibility of me introducing the concept of scratches to my shiny new device. Well, the New Trent Airbender Mini sort of brings the best of both worlds, and it also ups the productivity ante for iPad mini owners, too.

Basically, the New Trent Airbender Mini has been touted to be the ideal portable case solution for those who want maximum protection for their iPad mini, regardless of where they are, whether they are at home, in the office or in the great outdoors. The outdoors? Yup, that is correct, this bad boy will come with a shock and splash resistant case, thanks to a rubberized exterior which will ensure that all openings are properly plugged, all the while offering full-body protection to the iPad mini without hindering usability.

Not only that, it comes with the convenience of a removable iPad mini case that has an integrated screen protector, ensuring that scratches and smudges will never get to your beloved iPad mini, all without sacrificing on touch screen sensitivity. Sporting an ultra low-profile, built-in keyboard, it will hook up to the iPad mini via Bluetooth, ensuring you can type out all those documents in a jiffy, with great ease and comfort. If you are interested, the New Trent Airbender Mini can be yours for $39.95 a pop.

HTC launches HTC One mini

Every single company would do well to release a flagship device of their own – it is not only a matter of technological achievement, but one of pride as well. After all, what is the point of tooting your trumpet if you do not have a flagship that is capable of duking it out with the best of the rest out there? HTC knows that they have a winner with the HTC One on their hands in the recent past, where it has picked up mainly rave reviews from the masses as well as the press, but still, the HTC One was unable to help HTC deliver a stellar quarter when it comes to earnings. Having said that, this has not stopped HTC from moving in the right direction, and they have just announced the HTC One mini, keeping in vein with the “mini me” theme that smartphone manufacturers, Samsung especially, just love to play with these days.

The HTC One mini is said to be HTC’s ultimate 4.3″ smartphone, after all, it does come with HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound, all features that are available on their HTC One flagship, too. The HTC One mini would continue in the same iconic design flow of the HTC One, where you will find that the 4.3″ display is easy on the eyes, while a powerful dual-core 1.4 GHz processor helps run proceedings from underneath the hood. Not only that, it will also be powered by the most recent version of the Android operating system, where it will be accompanied by HTC Sense.

Coming in Glacial Silver and Stealth Black colors, the HTC One mini boasts of a striking aluminum unibody in a slim profile, looking premium regardless of which angle you’re starting it down from. Not only that, there is also HTC BoomSound, which is HTC’s dual frontal stereo speakers that deliver less distortion and finer detail, and headphone lovers will love the Beats Audio integration that delivers immersive audio to the next level. It remains to be seen just how much the HTC One mini will sell for, but it is tipped to arrive in select markets from August onwards, before a global rollout in September.

Porch Potty Premium – Keeps your Dog High and Dry

I love having a dog. They truly are man’s best friend. I enjoy having the little guy greeting me at the door, hanging out with me while I’m relaxing, going on hikes and car rides. What I don’t enjoy is having to take him out to do his business when it’s raining (or snowing, or cold). Truth be told, he doesn’t like it all that much either.

Well, check out the Porch Potty, an automated, turf litter box for dogs. With the option of using synthetic grass, or the real deal, the Porch Potty gives your pooch a perfect potty option right on your covered porch, deck, or patio. The Porch Potty Premium includes a nifty 14 foot drainage hose that can be directed to your floor drain, or even a nearby gutter, and when connected to a garden hose, pop up sprinklers allow you to rinse the potty area, conveniently keeping it clean and odor free without any soap or chemicals.

The all weather resin wicker-look over metal frame Porch Potty Premium gives Fido around 8 square feet of circling potty pleasure, and it comes with a scented fire hydrant for inspiration, (scented with what, I don’t know, and don’t want to know) the drain hose, and a potty training manual and you can even add a 39 dollar Porch Potty timer, to make the system completely automated. So the next time foul weather strikes, and neither one of you wants to get wet, just let your dog out on the porch! Available at amazon.com for well under 300 bucks.

Tetris Heat Changing Mug

For those of you who grew up in the 1980s and early 1990s, I am quite sure that you have been exposed to the game of Tetris across many platforms, be it at the local arcade, on the Game Boy (remember the Tetris Game Pak that allowed you to go head to head with another friend?), or across numerous 8-bit consoles and on the PC? Well, Tetris is far from dead, but in recent times has seen a mini resurgence of sorts. So much so that you can even bring Tetris with you the next time you decide to have a drink – best to go along with a hot drink, too, especially when you are using the $9.99 Tetris Heat Changing Mug.

The Tetris Heat Changing Mug boasts a screenshot in full color that depicts Tetris artwork on a mug, where it will include the classic Hold, Next, Level, and Lines segments. Needless to say, whenever you mix your favorite hot beverage inside, the colorful “screenshot” will also be jolted into life, even before the caffeine from your morning coffee hits your system to do the same to you, where it will change the “display”. This is an officially licensed Tetris collectible, and you will need to hand wash it, taking care not to put it in the microwave or dishwasher as heat will destroy the heat-changing part of the mug.

Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control

Fans of the Doctor Who series would definitely have watched the shows many times over, so much so that some of those who are more engrossed might actually go down the path of collectibles, which is fine if you are single, but often to the chagrin of your other half because “good money” is deemed to have been wasted on such collectibles. Perhaps you need to travel back in time so that you can find a spouse who is equally in love with the Doctor Who series as you, which is why you decided to pick up the 69.95 Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control, no?

It does not matter what gadget you want to control, be it the TV, iPod, or other compatible devices, you can do so with multiple gestures. There is a quartet of modes in the Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control that will allow you to become a fully-fledged Time Lord – in your own mind, at least. Built to a 1:1 scale, this is a true blue replica that does more than just sit pretty on a display shelf, where it was made by 3D scanning of David Tennant’s Tenth Sonic Screwdriver. Being an officially licensed collectible by BBC Worldwide, who knows, it might be worth something many years down the road. The universal remote control part of this collectible can be used with up to 39 remote control codes at any one time, now how about that?

Jack Reacher Review

JACK REACHER

I didn’t really have any expectations for this movie, but I walked out very pleased. After a lot of action movies with what seemed like nothing but guns and explosions, Jack Reacher felt like something with a change of pace. The first few minutes of the movie was very tense. The music was quiet and no dialogue was spoken. During this time, a sniper takes a position in a parking garage and shoots five innocent people. Shortly after this incident, the gunman is arrested, and everything seems under control.

There are parts I liked about this movie, and parts I didn’t like. Thankfully, one of the parts I liked was Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) as a character. He proves to be more than muscle with a gun. He carefully analyses all the information he has and can handle difficult situations under pressure. Jack stays in contact with the shooters lawyer, Helen (Rosamund Pike). It’s through his conversations with her that he explains most of what he discovers and where he’s at in his investigation. Helen’s best contribution to the film is when she talks about the victims and we get a glimpse of who they were. There did seem to be a bit of over-explanation, but I’ll take that over not enough information to follow.

The bad guys turned out to be very disappointing. They behaved like they held all the cards and could handle any situation. All the movie shows is a stereotypical bad guy with a heavy accent and some minions to do his bidding. There is even a scene where some guys trying to kill Jack where whacking each other in an almost Three Stooges manner.

Jack seems to keep acquiring cars through various methods. Each car looking and sounding better, until a very thrilling car chase occurs. There is even a moment where Jack ends up in a gunfight with only a knife, and a little support from a gun range owner Cash (Robert Duvall).

Despite having a decent cast of good guys, a lack of impressive bad guys really weighs down an action film. I give Jack Reacher a 6 out of 10.

Pussy Flip The Game, No Really, It Exists.

There’s an iOS game from UK developers Kwalee called Pussy Flip. Get your minds out of the gutter, it’s about cats! A classic puzzle game in the tradition of Othello that calls for “strategic pussy placement” to win. Lost in translation or perhaps intentional joke, you must admit Pussy Flip is an attention grabber.

I think the title is hilarious but in a probably wise move, a future update to Pussy Flip will include a name change to Flip The Cats. With so many games on the App Store I probably would have not even been aware of this game were it not for its innuendo inspiring title. I’m sold, well-played Kwalee, well-played.

Pussy Flip is now available on Apple’s App Store for .99 cents.
